Friday Jan 28th , beer night # 4 brought us to the Riverview mall on Coverdale road , the Fox and Hound lounge. I had never been there before but Nat told me that it was alot like the Little Rock that had once been in the Moncton mall so I expected alot of restaurant type tables , gambling machines in a friendly environment.
We arrived around 930, Nat's friend Kathi joined us , when we got their ordered nachos, Kathi had mozza sticks and as part of the drill, we asked the bartender what he recommended....he replied ...liquor in a cup...mmmmm a little funny , I thought he was actually going to come up with something after the joke... but... nope nothing.. he said , well what you you feel like having? So I ended up with a Moose Green , Nat a bud light , Kathi a Rickard's Red. I wonder if we will ever get a true recommendation... Another strange this is there was about 5 bartenders , but we actually waiting 15-20 mins after finishing our beers before someone asked us if we wanted another one.
The atmosphere was exactly as my sister described , in order for you to get inside you have to go in through the mall .It had along of dining tables tables kind of like sports rock in Dieppe , served food til 10, pool table and machines out in the back . The bar was big enough that if you wanted to have a party with several friends they could surely accommodate, in fact there was a gentlemen celebrating his 50th so he had about 25 of his closest friends with him (he was actually wearing a fisherman's yellow hat with a pink ribbon) signing along to the band which started at 10. The band which I don't recall the name, was extremely hard to understand any words they said or sang, either the sound was really bad or we clearly didn't have enough to drink to appreciate their tunes.
Overall this place would be good for an oversize group event , I would expect the call centre helps support it and keep it alive. I don't know when I will go back without a specific reason ..my rating is 2/3 if you wanted to have a 25yrs wedding anniversary but 1/3 if you were looking for a nice out on the town.
on to # 5....

3 of 52 - Blondie's
Well we were a bit nervous about what to expect from this place , several people had offered their opinions but to keep up with the game , we ignored the good, bad and ugly advice and went as per the plan.
Massive snow storm today ...so when I first drove by Blondie's , there were about 4 cars in the parking lot ...YIKES ... so Nat and I decided to go grab a bite and then headed over about 9.
It was Karaoke night and when we got there it was starting to get a bit more crowded ... about 10 cars in lot at this point.
We went in ... sat at the bar and realized the place was actually nice ...so yes I was pleasantly surprised , the bartenders ,who wore almost nothing , which I guess is probably helping them get good tips.. were very nice ..the only thing is that when we asked the girl what she recommended to drink... she said she didn't know...mmmmmm this might be a trend ..... so I had a moose green and Nat had a bud light... we looked around at the 15 people in the bar ... and then decided to play pool. There are 3 tables, a buck each game , it was great , I don't think I played pool in 10+ yrs , we played best out of 3 and Nat sunk the 8 ball during the rubber match .. I never mind taking a win.
Overall the atmosphere was good , beer good and cold , waitresses were half naked... I would go to Blondie's again with a gang of friends . Rating 2 out of 3... next stop fox and hound in Riverview....

2 of 52 Old Triangle
This week my sister Melanie decided to join us and we were on our way to the old triangle on Main, at about 7pm. This pub is quite popular in the summer with lots of patio seats , but you have to get there pretty early to have a prime view. Great people watching in the summertime.
When we got there there were only 2 tables available one right by the doors, hello it's freakin winter and the other was overlooking the steps/staircase. .... so...we sat over the stairs, come to find out the steps (15 of them) leads to where the washrooms are ... I wonder how many drunk folks fell down there ... I wonder if the bartenders make bets on it.
Our waitress was pretty nice , when we asked what she recommended to drink... she basically rambled off the whole menu... so we asked again the same question in a different way ... without a recommendation so I ended up with a Rickard's white(with an orange) , Nat had a Stella and Mel .. well a diet Pepsi..... we ordered food it was pretty good except the chicken nachos had a funky pickle sauce on them .
Overall it was a good place , the environment would be a great place to go out with a gang from work , but terrible for a nice romantic night out .. rating 2/3.

Beer 1 of 52 - V Bar /Lounge
Nat and I started our first beer a week marathon .. we were originally supposed to go to the Manhattan , but we swapped it out as a result of my girl Heather's birthday , you know the rule , if it's your bday , you choose the venue. Her choice.. V
It was of course snowing ,ahhh... Moncton winters , it pretty much snows everyday . We finally made it to the club in one piece . We walked down Robinson alley and found a building looking a bit mysterious with nothing but a purple V and a doorway. This was the beginning of our adventure.
The place was packed , and a great jazz band played in the dark candle lit lounge which had fabulous comfy sofas to sit on . We were very lucky to get there when we did , and as a result got a double table corner booth ,the place is small and cozy , any later and we would of been in the standing section for the night. The scenery was fantastic , the walls were covers in beautiful draperies , colorful pillows and the room had nice high ceilings, the place almost made me feel like I was in a dream.
Our server Carol (a childhood hide and seek friend from the hood) told us her beer recommendation for drinking was difficult pretty much impossible actually since her drink of choice is vodka straight up... so .. Stella it was for me and red wine for Nat.
The rest of the crew showed up about 730 , we ate , drank and continued the party until the early Saturday morning hours ....
overall experience , server great, atmosphere great high end , intimate great for close friends or important dates, 3 out of 3 , can't wait to go back
next stop .. old triangle on Main ...

Intro - Beer Blog
This year ,my sister Nat and I thought it would be fun to try and do something different and commit to one activity per week and talk about it. Something that makes us come out of our comfort zone to see if we can't create some fun and adventure.
I got the idea from watching people on facebook name favorite things per day , taking a picture a day ..and so on so on....
We have decided to go for one beer a week, each week at a different location . These location have been chosen by my sisters(Melissa and Melanie) in no particular order. Back up bars/taverns were also provided just recently (thanks Erin)...
The mission - go to the bar/tavern ask the bartender to recommend the beer and judge it based on three with as follows:
1/3 bad
2/3 good
3/3 fantastic can't wait to go again
The experience will be very descriptive and will post pics at each spot. Enjoy the read and stay tuned ...
