Friday Jan 28th , beer night # 4 brought us to the Riverview mall on Coverdale road , the Fox and Hound lounge. I had never been there before but Nat told me that it was alot like the Little Rock that had once been in the Moncton mall so I expected alot of restaurant type tables , gambling machines in a friendly environment.
We arrived around 930, Nat's friend Kathi joined us , when we got their ordered nachos, Kathi had mozza sticks and as part of the drill, we asked the bartender what he recommended....he replied ...liquor in a cup...mmmmm a little funny , I thought he was actually going to come up with something after the joke... but... nope nothing.. he said , well what you you feel like having? So I ended up with a Moose Green , Nat a bud light , Kathi a Rickard's Red. I wonder if we will ever get a true recommendation... Another strange this is there was about 5 bartenders , but we actually waiting 15-20 mins after finishing our beers before someone asked us if we wanted another one.
The atmosphere was exactly as my sister described , in order for you to get inside you have to go in through the mall .It had along of dining tables tables kind of like sports rock in Dieppe , served food til 10, pool table and machines out in the back . The bar was big enough that if you wanted to have a party with several friends they could surely accommodate, in fact there was a gentlemen celebrating his 50th so he had about 25 of his closest friends with him (he was actually wearing a fisherman's yellow hat with a pink ribbon) signing along to the band which started at 10. The band which I don't recall the name, was extremely hard to understand any words they said or sang, either the sound was really bad or we clearly didn't have enough to drink to appreciate their tunes.
Overall this place would be good for an oversize group event , I would expect the call centre helps support it and keep it alive. I don't know when I will go back without a specific reason ..my rating is 2/3 if you wanted to have a 25yrs wedding anniversary but 1/3 if you were looking for a nice out on the town.
on to # 5....
