12 of 52 St James Gate

Well its Saturday night , blog pushed out as a result of a terrible flu that I have had over the last week. Still not up to par and have a pretty bad fever tonight but as long as I steer clear of touching anyone I should be ok... off to St James Gate.

We got there and it was very dark only candles lit in order to participate in the earth day celebration of having the lights off for one hour. Nice to see a bar was taking part..ahhh the gate.. what can I say , the exterior is inviting , the summertime has a nice big patio and the inside dark , romantic, intense , just calling for out for you to come in for some good times.

It was about 930 and the pub was pretty busy , we grabbed a table quickly and a waitress came by right away , we asked her recommendation , she recommended red wine.. Nat was all over that, but folks who know me and that I am not a wine drinker but since she recommended it......I accepted her in an instant a white Riesling , Nat had red  .. it would only be one glass after all .. how much trouble does one get in with one tiny glass...

Well ... we ended up having an appetizer each , Nat went with spinach and artichoke dip, I went with Bruschetta... mine was yummy , Nat's was fine but I don't think that will be ordered twice. The wine came , delicious , the people packed in .. and funny when I did a scan of what kind of people were in the pub.. it was a nice blend of professionals of all market industries and I mean all market industries. We actually ended up meeting a couple guys from out of town - Woodstock/Florenceville area here on business and they actually bought us a B52 shot and a glass of wine. We ended up sitting with them for a few hours while listening to a band who were not bad , I think my parents would have loved them...moody blues type songs.
Overall I love this pub, great atmosphere would go back anytime.. 3/3 for me..

11 of 52 Chris Rock Tavern

Here are some of the things that I didn't know about the Chris Rock tavern...

1- It is jammed packed full on Friday nights
2- Not only does it have a pool table, Foosball and shuffle board , you can also ask them to get a deck a card which they hide in the backroom walls and play with your friends, they also have a kitchen? Who knew?
3- I didn't see any gambling machines which was a first but alot of happy people boozin it up likely getting ready to hit the dance clubs once midnight rolled around

We got there at 930ish , and the place was packed , sat at the bar and the bartender actually recommended beer.. I had a draft on tap - moosehead pale ale and Nat had a cooler..

Liked the atmosphere would go again , the only thing is that it not really close to anything, it's kind of all by itself on Albert street ... 2/3 for our rating... next stop St- James gate...

10 of 52 Storm's

10 weeks into 2011 , tonight the clocks change and we are about 8 days aways from spring... man oh man isn't that exciting ? I get spring fever just thinking about it.

Well it's Saturday and we switched nights for the blog since I wrote a fantastic exam this morning and knew I would definitely need a drink this evening. on the menu Storm's . Storm's in a little pub beside the giant tiger on Mapleton drive right beside the UPS store.  We headed out about 830 pm.

We got there not quite knowing what to expect , a smoking section /patio in the front and full blast music that we could hear while we were still in the car. When we got in , it was a small bar , two bar hands about 20 tables and a small gambling machine section in the far corner a band setting up to play . Their name was the loaded aces , the bartender said they played rock music , lots of ACDC and that there was a different band every Sat night.

So are the requirements state we asked the bartender what she recommended , a white Russian was what she suggested , and for anyone who knows me , I don't drink vodka EVER and so I went with a Kahlua and milk .. YUMMY ... Nat who hates milky drinks and Kahlua altogether was offered a Pornstar ... and guess what she ended up having two saying ..wow those are dangerously good. The pornstar contains , blue Curacao and sour puss, I tasted it.. yup can't go wrong with a pornstar...

As for the experience , I actually liked Storm's a lot , we both would go back anytime . 3 out of 3

9 of 52 Cheers

Nine weeks of 2011 already gone , and WTF the snow keeps coming , finally a Friday that it isn't snowing , what a better place to go than CHEERS.

We headed out about 8ish , I had never been but Nat had told me it was an alright place and my friend Dine said she goes there every once and a while for supper so I was expecting something good.

When you pull up to the building the fist thing I noticed what how small the parking is and how big the smoking area was , so I guess if you smoke and don't drive it's all good. It also has coasters which is essentially a mini casino the same set up as I had seen at Saxby's in Riverview . You go past this to get to the pub which is a mix of the Fox and Hound/ Saxby feel with a couple of guys signing and the folks looked to be regulars. I guess Cheers is the place where people know you name... except ours , we stuck out big time.

Anywho , on to the recommendation , the server didn't actually recommended anything directly but did let us know that is is happy hour every Friday night until 9 on draft... AWESOME , I was all over that with a Coors light yummy draft and Nat had a rye and OJ which I ended up drinking after she decided to go with cranberry and vodka.

This pub was good to meet a gang for drinks ..kind of the bar before the bar .. 2/3 for me
